Discover the world of experimental printmaking using ordinary & not so ordinary tools! Learn to use various monoprinting methods, including building your own printing blocks to create multiple layered pages through repetition and patterning. After developing the book cover in the same experimental printmaking manner, we’ll alter the book to house our pages in a hinged format, making it a book like you’ve never seen. These techniques and tools can be used as backgrounds that are a spring board to take your artwork to the next level. When finished, your Printable Matter will be a unique printed book that is a work of art in itself, the groundwork for an artist book or visual journal, or a valuable reference book for future printmaking projects. This class will expand your artistic repertoire! I’ll supply the wonderful and weird materials for the printing blocks. For more information, visit my web site at www.bonkersfiber.com Supplies --Basic Tools:  scissors, glue stick, Exacto knife, straight-edge/ruler at least the height of your book --a thin, hardback book (kid's books are great) that has at least 40-60 pages. (20-30 actual pages if counting front & back of page as 1) --paper torn to the size of the pages in your book, but about 1 to 1-1/2" less in width. Divide the number of pages your books has by 4 and that’s the number of pieces of paper you need. The paper can be anything that is absorbent and will hold up to getting wet--no glossy paper. You can even do a little collage on it beforehand as part of the background. --one large sheet of fun foam & 1 small sheet of adhesive-backed fun foam --acrylic paints--several colors that you want to use (cheap craft paints are fine) --a few permanent stamp pads (Staz-on works best!) --a few cheap, fat, round stiff paint brushes--like stencil brushes. Cheap kid's brushes work fine. --hair dryer or heat gun. --brayer --small roll of permanent double-sided tape --small cutting mat Optional: --collage material --anything with texture that you want to try to print with or use as a stencil --small paper brads & eyelets (and tools to use them) --thread and needle if you want to sew on your pages  If you have any questions, please e-mail me at Bonkers@bonkersfiber.com!
