845 - Books You Can Hang Like a Picture

[back to quicklinks]
$ 130

Construct a pop-up that hangs on the wall like a picture instead of being in a book and sitting on a shelf. Class begins with a look at books in this style that Paul has made before embarking on several basic models. Participants then select one of these styles to make a developed piece just waiting to hang on a wall in your house.

Supply List
:
--20 sheets copier paper (81/2 x 11)
--10 larger sheets of thicker paper than copier (e.g., 80 lb text, 60 lb cover or lighter—not card stock)  These should be around twice the size of 8 1/2 x 11 copier paper. Watercolor paper (90-140 lb) or a good quality drawing paper sketch pad would be appropriate.
--Craft knife
--Sharp scissors
--Pencil
--12 inch steel ruler (or longer if you have one)
--Glue stick and white glue (Elmers OK)
--Self-healing cutting mat or card/board to cut on.

To enhance the class project, I would also suggest bringing:
--A range of colored pens, pencils, collage-type materials (magazines, photographs, and wrapping paper), colored or textured sheets of paper for decoration, and rubber stamps if you have them.
