If you love beautiful and unusual earrings that incorporate a variety of mixed-media, then come join us in this guided workshop that combines both process and project and explore endless design possibilities as you construct several unique pair using copper, brass, colorful tin can sheet metals, tiny tintypes, wire, beads, charms and more. Hands-on techniques include and expand on some of our favorites: cold-connections, wirework, non-toxic patination and oxidation techniques, bending, forming, texturing, etc. We'll also introduce new ones, like working with hot laminate and using a jig. There will be additional demos and each student will leave class with at least four pair, each utilizing a different technique. All Levels.
Supply List: --fine tin shears, two-hole metal punch and mini-eyelet setter. --jewelry pliers: one round nose, two flat nose and cutters. --a small steel block or anvil and a hammer. --an ultra-fine sharpie and a ruler. --a small amount of 20 ga. copper and non tarnishing silver wire. --a small flat metal file and a thin awl or needle tool. --some beads that will fit over 20 ga. wire, and a few charms.
Optional: some words to incorporate into your designs and matte medium.
Materials fee includes: 4 pair of sterling silver earwires, copper, brass and tin can sheet metal, a pair of tiny gem tintypes, assorted rivet materials, a handout and more. Instructors will also supply patination and oxidation materials.
