889 - Tin Can Wearable Journal |
[back to quicklinks]

|
In this workshop, students will create a wearable journal pin or non-wearable miniature book, with covers made from colorful tin cans, pages made from cardstock and various materials that will be further embellished at your leisure with stamping, words and imagery. Other techniques will include cutting and preparing the tin, attaching findings without using glue, simple riveting, adding a closure, and a no-fail image transfer technique that's perfect for "anywhere/anytime" instant gratification. A coil binding completes your piece. This wearable icon is the perfect miniature keepsake to record and remember this or any other very special event. All Levels.
Supply List: --tin shears --two- hole metal punch --mini-eyelet setter (it has a lip) for working with smaller eyelets, a hammer and setting mat --a black ultra-fine sharpie marker --a rubber mallet --a small metal file.
Optional: --a small steel block or anvil; --a glue stick; --some small favorite collage materials for embellishing the pages if time permits
Materials fee includes: everything you will need to create your piece including: colorful tin litho for the covers; paper pages pre-cut to size; image transfer materials; all jewelry findings, rivets, closure and binding materials; and a pair of unique custom fabricated metal hinges.
