HEART... def. a. LOVE, AFFECTIONS , the central or innermost part b : the essential or most vital part of something The Heart--that symbol that appears everywhere-we all resonate with this image-and all it represents. Create the heart of your dreams and use this pillow as a wall hanging. First the artist will be challenged to look deep and write what is in the innermost part and urged to always work from this place. Students will be introduced to traditional and fun and funky styles of lettering on fabric--no previous calligraphy experience required! Wash, gesso and sgraffitto techniques will be presented using permanent acrylic inks as a backdrop to our intuitive words and blessings. I will demonstrate many types of letters and lettering styles. These letters can be used also in your journals. I will provide the student with many exemplars of calligraphy for future reference. Using various contrasting types of fabric, shimmery and iridescent, we will collage these to our pillows or using fusible web-strip in the fabrics easily. Additional images, charms, and amulets that speak to us will also be added or sewn. Quickly sewn and stuffed, edges ragged or cut and trimmed--you’ll probably be able to make a ccouple in class! Supply List: --Two yards of 100% cotton muslin (Joanns carries this) don't wash ahead of time --Small Fabric scraps-with various surfaces, textures, different colors-($1.oo rack at Goodwill) --Speedball Calligraphy nib C0 and pen holder --Disappearing Purple ink Fabric Marker-fabric stores and WalMart --Any fabric paints you already may have-I will provide alot of paints to try --Old Brushes-hairy , flat , pointed watercolor, etc. --Micron marker, Pitt pen, Sharpies, and/or a gel pen --Zig Calligraphy marker(available at target) --Plastic palette-6 well --Fabric Scissors, Ruler --Images transferred to ink jet fabric, (optional) --Mementos, symbols, charms,beads, dream quotes and inspirational words, amulets that speak to your heart’s deep secrets --Iron, hair dryer and towel for press cloth ( please, NOT from your hotel room) --Some cotton balls or pillow stuffing-you wont need alot --Iron if you live nearby * Optional -Parallel Pen size 6.0-available at www.paperinkarts.com Materials fee includes:  acrylic inks, Stitch Witchery, metallic powders, Metallic and Embroidery thread, Yes Glue, graph paper, freezer paper and many other doodads to share Please email me with any questions you might have! lengelbrecht@earthlink.net www.lisaengelbrecht.com
