Learn to work with the remarkable material, mica. We will use both the natural form of this many layered silicate mineral and a man made sheet. We will construct a Mica Album exploring various techniques that emphasize the unique qualities of mica.  We will bind our Mica Album with a single sheet Coptic binding.  Supply List:  --Ruler --4-6 inch plastic square --Awls --White bookbinding glue --Glue brush --Sturdy Scissors --Assorted bulldog clamps --Small hammer --Needle nose tweezers --Pencils: wood, mechanical --Fine line permanent black marker --¼ palm chisel --Exacto knife and blades --Small cutting matte --Thin or light weight collage materials: decorative and text papers, photos, insect wings, leafs, feathers, etc. Materials fee includes: --Assortment of Mica (majority of the fee) --Waxed linen thread --Needles --PVA glue --Other misc. materials or tools needed to complete the project
