H115 - Divine Inner Wisdom: developing intuition through Extreme Visual Journaling

[back to quicklinks]
$ 140

(Official Warning:  This workshop can be emotionally intense and psychologically challenging for some.  Please read the following description carefully.  These courses are life altering and not recommended for those not interested in doing deep inner work.)
We’ve traveled to distant places in our Extreme Visual Journals and heard the longings murmur in our hearts, but now there seems to be a block, an impasse, a plateau.  Where do we go next?  What do we do?  It’s time to consult the Oracle. In this workshop we will investigate our inner wisdom and healers through various exciting and fun tools  such as  personality and soul cards, Animal Medicine Cards, Astrology, Mandalas and altar making in our books for self dialogue.   Images in our Visual Journals are like the metaphoric language of dreams and we need symbols and archetypal images to relate to them and find meaning. Life begins with this inner journey.  Pay attention to the sage advice of the soul:  your creative voice will be loudest and most clear here.  For all levels of personal and artistic experience.  We are all creative seekers.

Supply List:
- Your Extreme Visual journal, blank book, handmade book,  book to alter, Old ledger book,  antique photo album, used scrapbook, etc. any size, any thickness or a book, sketchbook,  or Visual Journal you are currently working on. (see www.destinyvoyages.com for tips on choosing your book)
- Bring your favorite deck of oracular cards. (Tarot, MotherPeace, InnerChild, Mayan Oracle,  Animal Medicine, Soul Cards, Louise Hay Power Thought cards, Mexican Bingo- Anything!  (All Extreme Journalists should have a wonderful and beautiful deck they  treasure-we will not be cutting these up or sharing them-we will be “divining” from  them-no experience necessary-it‘s fun! This is not fortune telling: we use these cards  for a different perspective. Unsure? I‘ll bring a few extra for you to try!)

Mixed Media:
-your favorite glue - I love big UHU gluesticks
-scissors
-some brushes for your paints (no sponge brushes)
- a rag or two
-rubber stamp letters - I have a big set and a small set.
-stamp pads (I highly recommend Staz On stamp pads because we work so quickly)
-acrylic paint- any brand, any color in at least two colors, one light & one dark.
-at least two brush markers in different colors.
-a permanent black marker
-a graphite pencil- regular old number two is fine, but if you can get to an art store get an   ebony pencil, or a 6B, or a graphite stick (not charcoal)
-white gel pen, white pen and ink, or anything else that can write on dark surfaces.
-optional: china markers in black, white, red.  A couple water color crayons (not portfolios or water based oil sticks).

Collage Items:
-random collage items ( copies of things that are precious)
-one magazine to cut up
-one poetry book to cut up ( you can share with friends)
--Bring Oracular and Divine imagery such as tarot and astrology images/symbols, sacred text, alchemy signs.  (Please bring copies of treasured images- with self expression- anything can happen)

Each student will be required to bring an “Alchemy Bag.”  A plastic grocery bag will do.  Some suggestions are collage items, an old paintbrush that is all glued together, that orange paint you hate, stickers from when you were 14,  artist tools and supplies you no longer use or never liked, torn up pieces of your artwork that didn’t work out (no recognizable artwork, please) books to cut up, magazines, sticks, markers, 2 inch pencils, you get the picture-sort of a grab bag.  We will be using these alchemy bags as part of our mixed media explorations.  What, and how much to bring, is up to you.  Don’t worry about trying to include nice things- we’re looking more for garbage items.  We don’t want nice supplies-we want your cast offs to really make us think!
