Ever wanted to know how to achieve that deep, dreamy layered look for your own digital creations? Then this is the class for you! We will take the mystery out of “Layers” and learn how to build a digital sandwich of images and elements that interact with each other to produce a deep and textured collage. Using “Masks” we will explore the world of non-destructive editing so that during each step of your digital creation you can adjust, re-adjust and adjust some more without having to start all over again!
Topics covered will include layers, layer adjustments and the “mysterious” masking that everyone talks about. We will also cover the use of filters, third party plug-ins, layer effects , blending modes and use of Type tool. This class is aimed at the advanced beginner student who already has a working knowledge of Photoshop Elements or Photoshop (7 or higher).
Supplies Needed for Class:
*A laptop or other computer (either WIN or MAC) with mouse (and tablet if you have one).
*Graphics program loaded and ready to run - Elements, Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro
*Main images to work with, photos or your own digital projects that you would like to work on.
*Other digital images to use e.g., of buildings, graffiti, grunge, flowers, shapes, text etc.
*External USB storage device for transferring digital files.
$5 Materials fee payable to the instructor includes:
Printer, scanner and paper. Sample and stock images, vintage ephemera, texture elements
Note: You can download a trial version of Elements or Photoshop if you do not already have one of these programs installed on your computer. These trials expire 30 days after install.
