We’re very excited to finally present the newest class from our ever-popular Tin-Tastic Series. It’s been a long time coming but we believe it was worth the wait as this class combines our passion for using recycled and found materials with our love of the iconic tin can. In Vignettes from the Scrap Heap, students will create a variety of jewelry pieces that feature a single tiny tin image as the focal piece married to an array of found materials and connected with assorted micro-fasteners, mini screws, nuts, washers and more. Techniques include the A to Z’s of working with tin, using nut-drivers and micro-fasteners for joinery and options for wearing them. The philosophy behind this class was to keep it simple while creating meaningful eco-friendly jewelry. Most of the materials you need are literally at your feet, so look around and start your collection of interesting odd-bits and various what-not’s to bring to class. And don’t forget the tin! Bring a variety of little images approximately an inch. You can find these just about everywhere; on various tin and soda cans, old New Year’s Eve rattles and noise-makers, etc.
Check out garage sales, goodwill stores, and the shelves of your own grocery store. Everyone will receive hands-on assistance with composition and design. Whether your style is whimsical or serious, pendants or earrings, you will leave class with several finished pieces. All Levels.
Your Material Fee of $10.00 payable to the instructor includes: an assortment of micro-fasteners, riveting materials, wire and more. We’ll have nut-drivers for the class to use as well as a dremel and bench block, and we’ll bring some interesting found materials from our lake shore for you to incorporate.
