Showcase your favorite handmade or collected bead in a Faux Bone pendant that will allow you to see all sides of your treasure as it spins in the ivory-like carrier you make for it. Beads of all materials including metal clay, glass, bone, and stone all marry perfectly with the Faux Bone. The surface can be carved, filed, stamped with metal stamps or dimensionally embossed with rubber stamps. You will learn wire and epoxy inlay for the Faux Bone as well as the possibilities for heating and bending the material. Color can be applied with paint, colored pencils, alcohol inks and dyes. The Faux Bone can be finished in any number of textures and patinas as well as having metal or found objects attached to it. All this, and the Faux Bone is completely non-toxic!
With few and simple tools you will be able to cut, shape and finish a Faux Bone surround for any bead or object with a hole in it. Running a wire through the Faux Bone and the bead, will allow you to spin the bead to reveal the design in 360°. Attach a balled wire bail, and your pendant is ready to hang on any chain or cord. Participants can expect to finish at least one pendant – most likely more.
