The Bark Scarf - beautiful Art for your creative body. When you have this scarf around your neck, everyone will know that within your soul lives a beautiful and interesting spirit.
Join us for a busy day learning to transform instructor-dyed fine Australian Merino needle punch batts by felting them into soft but durable textiles. Next, design and stitch your scarf using an
ancient Japanese resist technique called Mokume, which means 'tree bark'. Then we will learn the basics of setting up a safe at-home dye kitchen and we will dye the scarves in fabulous deep, rich colors. The best part comes at the end when you will start to clip open the stitches and the bark-like pattern emerges. It will be like opening presents at the holidays!
A fabulous design plus to this scarf is the special quality of felted wool which - when stitched tightly and placed in the hot water dye bath - retains the texture of the stitching, so you get a scarf with the 'bark' pattern both in the colors AND in the texture! What can be more wonderful?
