Step into the dreamworld of portraiture in this immersive, in-person painting workshop where we explore the intersection of intuition, abstraction, and human expression. In this class, you’ll learn to create layered, emotive portraits using a combination of loose abstract techniques, unexpected color palettes, and expressive mark-making.
Guided through my personal process, you’ll discover how to build up an image in translucent layers—revealing emotion, mystery, and narrative along the way. We’ll play with texture, tone, and the beautiful tension between realism and abstraction. This is a space for experimentation, trust in your own creative voice, and developing work that feels deeply personal and otherworldly.
What You’ll Learn:
- Techniques for layering acrylics to create depth and atmosphere
- How to abstract facial features while maintaining emotional resonances
- Tools for working from reference without becoming literal
- Ways to develop your own intuitive, expressive portrait style
Whether you’re new to portraiture or looking to expand your existing style, this class will help you loosen up, tune in, and transform your approach to painting faces.
