Color Combing is about creating worlds within worlds. Printing patterns, colors, and layers will be your gateway to creating a colorific book. "But wait, PRINTING a book sounds complicated!” you say. Fear not my fellow artists! You will learn all about monoprinting with Gelli Plates. The principles are simple, the tools can be inexpensive as you like and the amount of mesmerizing art you can create is infinite. Everything you need could fit in shoe box.

Monoprinting with Gelli Plates is a new spin on an old printing technique of gelatin printing. You will play with a variety of tools (many found in the kitchen or front yard!) to manipulate acrylic on your own Gelli plate. Then you pull monoprints on a variety of papers. You will learn techniques like chine-colle, faux paste paper, masking, stencil making and so many more.

At the end of the workshop you will combine these pages to create an accordion book with your animal images. This guide book will hold other mini books and hidden pockets and secrets about your animal friend. You will also go home with a stack of amazing papers ready for future projects like collage backgrounds, unique notecards, decoupage, assemblage, and journal pages.

So come out and play. No prior skills needed. By the end of class will become a band of paint slingers and color combers ready to take on the art world!
