Rain Sticks are believed to have originated in Chile, but have been found in many cultures throughout the world. They were used primarily as ceremonial tools to bring forth rain. The rain stick is a long, hollow tube partially filled with small pebbles or beans that has pins arranged in a helix pattern on the inside surface. When the stick is turned at a 45 degree angle, the pebbles fall to the other end of the tube, making a sound reminiscent of rain falling. Please join us in making one of these delightful collaged sound makers. See sample demo video.

Kit fee $5 paid to instructor at beginning of class includes:

I2" X 36" tube
Materials to make helix pattern in tube
Pebbles &/or beans

Student supply list to bring to class:
Elmer's Glue
A few scraps of paper in colors of your choice
Paint to match or contrast (just 1 or 2 craft paints)
A small spool of thread (metal is nice)
1" or 1/2" brush (The kind you get at home improvement stores is fine)
