The purpose of this dream catcher isn’t to ward off bad dreams, but to capture moments in time from the past, present, or future.
The base for this project is a metal tray which will be embellished with a lace doily “web”. Photos and other keepsakes will then be captured in the web. This piece can be very Victorian or boldly Bohemian.
Students should bring any images and ephemera that they want to include in their piece, and embellishments that go with the color scheme they are dreaming of.
Supplies Needed for Class:
A focal point- the main image of the piece. It can be flat or three dimensional. Ideas include: a small figurine, photos, vintage animal images, a large initial, a piece of jewelry or anything that has meaning to you. I will also have some focal pieces available for you to purchase, if desired.
Thread or yarn or cotton string or embroidery floss to create the web.
A dull tapestry needle with a hole large enough to accommodate the string.
Sewing thread and a sewing needle.
Additional embellishments - Anything goes! Items such as buttons, fibers, charms, and other small bits and pieces. It is helpful if the images that you plan to use are on cardstock or other heavyweight paper. I like to use a color copier and print my images out in several sizes so I can choose the one that fits the final project the best
Kit fee includes:($20)paid to instructor at beginning of class includes:
a base tray, doilies for the center web, fibers to string the web, ribbon, paper ephemera and other embellishments, and the use of tools in class. To give you an idea of scale, trays will range in size from 8” to about 16” in diameter. There will be a variety of trays for students to choose from.
