I’m rummaging through my stash of stones…. Ahh, there they are! My collection of gorgeous imperfect stones waiting for their turn to shine in a setting made just for them. Maybe you have some stones in your stash too that are sitting there patiently waiting for you to pick them up and transform them into a beautiful piece of jewelry.
If you want to learn how to prong set a stone (or a piece of beach glass, coral, or almost any oddly shaped focal piece), this class will teach you how to do it. Although this class will be focused on irregularly shaped stones, you can use this prong setting technique to set smoothly finished cabochons as well. We will be using small butane torches to solder the pendant and the prongs to create a beautiful pendant.
You’ll be provided with sterling silver for the backplate, sterling wire for embellishment, a necklace chain, and your choice of rough stones including turquoise, chrysocolla, honey citrine, fluorite and more.
Students do not need to bring anything for this class. All tools, equipment and materials will be provided. Since we will be using torches, please tie back long hair, wear closed toe shoes, and refrain from wearing loose flowing clothing.
