This class is about what every abstract artist needs to know to build a painting that draws in the viewer and hold their interest. The best artist's know, and can implement, design fundamentals in their work. This course focuses on various types of Compositions: Horizon lines, Focal Points, Horizonal, diagonal and vertical compositions and more. We’ll talk about Shape, Value, Color, Edges etc. as they feed into our chosen compositions. Class will begin in the morning with students creating several small “Sketch paintings”, either in their journals or on separate sheets of paper. Then one of the favored sketches will be enlarged to 11” x 14” or larger on an Ampersand Panel and we will spend the afternoon working toward a finished painting. We’ll work with Golden fluid acrylics in transparent layers in order to build deep and rich surfaces.

1” Golden Taklon Flat Brush (I prefer Silver Crystal Golden Natural)
# 6 or # 8 Round brush
