Take the time to honor a person, a place, a special trip or even a favorite flower in book form. You will create one small art book (4.25x5.5”) that unfolds to reveal 8 unfurling pages. You will choose the focus of your book and create 8 small collages on that theme. Each page is made as an individual collage, then you will decide how you want your pages to flow and connect with book binding tape. You’ll learn to make hinges, doors and pockets to interact with and add surprise. Finish it off with decorative covers and a closure and you will have a book to treasure. 

Materials Fee $35 paid at beginning of class includes:

• Eight 4.25x5.5” Cardstock pages in neutral colors
• Two Foam core cover pages cut to size
• Eight pieces Cloth tape to attach cover and pages
• An envelope of ephemera, sheet music, interesting paper, images, old book pages and more to start you off.
• Tools to share such as exacto knife, paper punches and scissors
• Yes paste and glue sticks to share
 

Supplies Needed  to bring for Class:

You might have everything you need already if you collect papers and cards but aren’t sure why well finally this is why!
Papers and images to gather:
• If you are honoring a person or particular place, then gather those pictures
• Art pattern papers in colors and patterns you like,
• Old book pages, maps,
• Old artwork you are ready to cut up
• Even old Journal pages can be interesting.
•Washi tape in two or three patterns in colors you enjoy.
•Scissors large and small
•Exacto knife for cutting detail or small scissors work too
•Glue Stick
•Envelopes from bills with glassine window (where the address is make a great window)
Optional: YES paste is good but optional for attaching cover and heavy items
Old gift card or plastic spreader for paste

Sewing Machine needed? This class is designed to be all glued but if you like the idea of sewing your pages I will have examples of accordion books created with paper and stitch to show.
