Warm and colorful, France is full of wonderful scenes to paint: windows draped with bright flower boxes, old textured stone walls, medieval archways, lively cafe scenes, fields of red poppies, and castles perched on hilltops overlooking rolling hills of vineyards. Let's spend a fun day imagining that we are on vacation, painting our way through France! You will create a lasting memory of your travel adventures through painting watercolor paintings, adding mixed-media and incorporating collected treasured items such as postcards, maps, napkins and wine labels. This will be a great way to learn techniques that you can use to create a watercolor art journal while on any adventure. Join Jacqueline on this fun journey to France. J’adore la France!

Students Should Bring: Watercolor paints, brushes and palette, The colors I suggest are Winsor Newton or Daniel Smith brand of French Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue, Permanent Rose, Winsor Red, Hansa Yellow Medium or Lemon Yellow and Quinacridone Gold. Winsor Blue, Permanent Magenta, French Vermillion (Sennelier brand) and Hansa Yellow Deep are also always on my palette. Arches 140 lb watercolor paper or your Arches watercolor, a drawing pencil and kneaded eraser, permanent black ink pen, white gel pen (my favorite is Uni-Ball Signo white gel pen) water container, washcloth or sponge, colored markers (like Sharpie oil-based markers), your favorite rubber stamps, alphabet stamps, and permanent ink pad.

Are you new to watercolor? Consider my new DANIEL SMITH Extra Fine Watercolor Jacqueline Newbold Traveling Kit and the Jacqueline Newbold Expansion Kit. The traveling kit includes my favorite palette, 12 tubes of watercolor paint to match the colors on the color wheel, 2 brushes, Arches watercolor journal, kneaded eraser and a zippered case to keep it all in. The kits are no longer available online but can be ordered by contacting the Daniel Smith representative - Joan Wright at joan.wright@danielsmith.com or call her at 206-812-5877 ext 454.
