Are bananas your favorite fruit? Maybe it is those luscious red cherries or plump grapes that you just pop in your mouth. Painting fruit is a fun way to learn new watercolor painting skills. Jacqueline will lead you through several ways to paint “good enough to eat” colorful watercolor paintings of some of your favorite scrumptious fruits. You will learn about reflective color, shading and shadowing, form and texture. She will show you some simple color combinations that give dramatic results. Using stamping and stencils with acrylic paints you will embellish your paintings with creative backgrounds. These are all great skills to have for all your painting endeavors!

Students Should Bring: Watercolor paints, brushes and palette, The colors I suggest are Winsor Newton or Daniel Smith brand of French Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue, Permanent Rose, Winsor Red, Hansa Yellow Medium or Lemon Yellow and Quinacridone Gold. Winsor Blue, Permanent Magenta, French Vermillion (Sennelier brand) and Hansa Yellow Deep are also always on my palette. ¼ sheet of Arches 140 lb watercolor paper will give you enough paper for 4 small paintings, or your Arches watercolor journal - (the better the quality the paper is the happier you will be with your final product), a drawing pencil and kneaded eraser, small paint brush for detail work, permanent ink pen, water container, washcloth or sponge. Some of your favorite stamps stencils.

Are you new to watercolor? Consider my new DANIEL SMITH Extra Fine Watercolor Jacqueline Newbold Traveling Kit and the Jacqueline Newbold Expansion Kit. The traveling kit includes my favorite palette, 12 tubes of watercolor paint to match the colors on the color wheel, 2 brushes, Arches watercolor journal, kneaded eraser and a zippered case to keep it all in. This great savings includes free shipping! The kits are no longer available online but can be ordered by contacting the Daniel Smith representative - Joan Wright at joan.wright@danielsmith.com or call her at 206-812-5877 ext 454.

SUPPLY FEE  $8 payable to instructor at beginning of class includes: stencils, stamps, tape, gold leaf pens, flair pens, gouache, sponges, acrylic paints, doilies. I will bring extra paint palettes for those that are new to watercolor and want try it before investing in expensive paints.
