Bride of Frankenbook

Some call us monsters for ripping up and altering books--I think of us more as creatives who can see potential in anything! Let's gather together with kindred spirits and rip and alter to our hearts' content! We'll take an ordinary vintage book and turn it into something extraordinary using paint, embellishments, and reconstructive techniques. You bring the book, (BYOB!) and I'll supply the rest! Each part of the book will be put to good and new uses as we deconstruct our books and reconstruct them into fabulous works of art. We'll also create our own unique collage papers to be used inside our new books and explore several journaling jumpstarts and background-starting techniques to get you going! We'll add fabric, trim, & ribbon to the edges to make the journal gorgeous & stuffed FULL of color and texture. We'll finish with a collage on the cover using fabric and 3D embellishments

Materials Fee $20 paid at beginning of class includes:
Collage paper pack full of an assortment of handmade, scrapbook, recycled, vintage papers, embellishments, ephemera
Use of shared materials: Acrylic paint, acrylic ink, spray ink, stencils, stamps, stamp ink, oil pastels, texture plates, brushes, mark-making tools, printmaking tools, watercolor paper, collage images, collage cut-outs, 3-D collage items, fabric/ribbon/trim

Supplies Needed  to bring for Class:
*One vintage book of your choice (make sure the covers are sturdy)
*Fabritac glue (must be this brand--it is the best for holding fabric & embellishments together and dries FAST!)
*basic kit: scissors, glue stick, ruler, pencil, exacto knife, book-binding awl, & self-healing cutting mat
Optional items: If you have special stamps or stencils, collage paper, or collage images, bring them along, but I will have plenty to share! You can also bring your own fabrics, trims & ribbons to make your book more personal.
