Please note this project needs a sewing machine with a free motion and a zig zag foot, the venue will have a few loaner machines to share. You may bring your own if you live locally.
These sweet little fabric boxes are easy to make in any size you desire and customize to fit a novelty print as the lid. In the class you will receive a pattern for three sizes but also the measurement formula to allow you to design future boxes to specific dimensions; you can even make sets of nesting boxes. Though you will make a basic fabric box in class, the instructor will cover ideas and tips on embellishing boxes. These make elegant gift boxes to present a gift, fill with chocolates or a special keepsake, or make the box itself a gift. They are remarkably durable too, I have been using one for my quilting safety pins for almost 20 years.
Skill Level: confident beginner and up
Materials Fee $30 paid at beginning of class includes:
Fabric for the body and lining of the box and a novelty print for the lid, batting, mat board to stabilize the box, sewing thread, glue stick, a shank style button and cord for the closure, and a novelty bead or charm to embellish the cord
Supplies Needed to bring for Class:
Craft scissors (I like the spring loaded soft touch ones made by Fiskars)
