Please note this project needs a sewing machine with a free motion and a zig zag foot, the venue will have a few loaner machines to share. You may bring your own if you live locally. Please be familiar with using a sewing machine.
More than quilting but not quite thread painting, thread sketching is a relaxed approach to machine stitching much like an artist’s thumbnail study. The sketching is easier than you might think being based on a printed design that will guide your machine work. There will be several sketching style designs to choose from printed on stabilizer. A kit will be available. Skill level:
Confident semi-beginners (with a familiarity with free motion stitching) and up.
Materials Fee $30 paid at beginning of class includes:
an 8 ½” x 11” sheet of pre-printed stabilizer, several neutral colors of thread, the base fabric, and topstitching needles
Supplies Needed to bring for Class:
• Embroidery Scissors or thread snips
• Sewing machine: Capable of free motion stitching with the proper free motion foot. NOTE: the venue will have loaner machines available by reservation, contact Art & Soul to reserve a machine.
• Your own source design (optional).
• A drawing pencil to trace the design (if you bring your own).
