This is a imaginary garden book filled with intuitive ink, acrylic, watercolor painting techniques and collage. Mark making lines and color washes on paper will be the first step in the evening session. We’ll finish up with the book cover assemblage with vellum and tissue layers over wood shapes. This will be a fast paced expressive experience where perfection goes out the window!
In the morning we’ll begin the book structure arrangement and stitching. Metal adornments will be added at this time. You’ll have a special translucent page to develop with color pencils and ink. Book construction will explored using a long stitch with ribbon attachments open spine technique. I’ll bring a brilliant array of sari ribbons for the binding.
In the afternoon we’ll relax and play with watercolors, acrylics, and collage techniques to our heart’s content, building a most beautiful garden of color and light. Discover that painting and book arts are about discovery and expression at all levels of creativity.

$20 kit fee paid to instuctor at beginning of classincludes
Book paper, vellum, tissue paper, wood shapes, string, netting, sari ribbons, collage papers, gouache paint, ephemera, and acrylic inks and paints.
I’ll also bring extra paint, metal drill, reference images, stamps, ink pads, and tools to use while we work.

Supply list to bring to class:
Brushes: 1 or more round watercolor brushes: #12 or # 14
