NOTE: Sewing machine experience required. If you are traveling, we will have 5 machines available to share. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you live locally, and can bring your machine so we can reserve the five for others!
I love vintage linens, the sweet embroidery applied to them, the story they tell. Adding them to adorn a linen or cotton shirt makes a fun wearable statement.
For this class I want you to choose a shirt that fits you. Then gather vintage embroidered linens, tablecloths, table runners, remnants of vintage that all blend together and go with the shirt. Wide table runners can be cut in half and made into a skirt, vintage doilies can be cut and used to make a collar or trim pockets. Amass as much as you can to bring to class then we will pare down what works and what you want to use.
I will help you design your garment so it is pleasing, it won’t look like you just stuck a doily on it! Be prepared to do some hand stitching, a running kantha stitch, nothing fancy unless you are skilled at that.
At the end of class we will model our creations and maybe even name them, see what tale they tell.
Supplies to Bring:~ scissors
I will bring a lot of items I have accumulated and will sell at my cost should you need something more than what you bring.
