Let’s infuse your fiber art with a big dose of texture! Whether you are working with quilting, fabric sculpture, slow stitch, or any fiber work. Surface design is the best part! (in my not so humble opinion) Surface design can be the main dish of your work or can simply supplement other focuses. I come to the fiber world as a sculptor so I didn’t learn any of the “rules”. As a matter of fact, I am a kind of an anti-rule person. Come spend a fun light-hearted day expanding your ideas about what fiber art can be. We will be working with non-traditional materials and non-traditional techniques to create rich textures in fiber. I encourage experimentation and embracing mistakes. You will leave class with a myriad of new techniques to use in your art practice.
Embroidery floss: Black, white, cream and an assortment of colors that coordinate with your fabric choices
An assortment of small pieces of fabric: Include different textures and materials
Embroidery needles and hoop

Just a few 3-D found objects: ideas could include: small stones or shells, buttons, pieces of broken jewelry, or?
For your convenience, you may pre-order your materials for classes! Your materials will be waiting for you at the retreat. And you can always purchase additional materials at the retreat.
