Drawing and painting furry animals is a direction I take again and again. They make me laugh and bring me joy. In this workshop we will create an in-depth watercolor portraits using masking fluid and gouache techniques. I’ll teach you step by step how to draw the shapes to make your special portrait. You can also trace your image if needed.
Watercolor techniques using masking fluid will bring depth to the fur textures. Work with a full and imaginative color range for the unexpected. Color temperature, intensity, and glazing will be discussed and practiced. Glaze layers will be achieved with layers of masking fluid to save lines and shapes. Towards the end of the workshop day we’ll unveil the hidden layers saved by the masking fluid. I’ll show you how to adjust the values and colors to bring forth a cohesive painting.
