Fantastical Flowers on Canvas

Judy Hudson
9:00 - 4:30
Monday March 14

[back to quicklinks]
$ 170

You will be creating an abstracted 3D floral design on canvas, using techniques that are low-stress and always successful! One of my most-used phrases is, “There is no wrong!” You will be encouraged to create in your own unique style, in a relaxed, no-pressure setting.
We will do our creating this day, forming the parts of our flowers from clay and while they dry, work on the background of our canvas. I will show you how to create your own texture pastes from items found around the house. I will also show you how to create a paper paste that will allow you to form extremely textural canvases. We will apply these and other objects of your choice to the canvas.
Then  we add color and bling! We’ll paint our flower parts and assemble them. If you like a lot of shine, you will be able to add gilding flakes for a metallic glow. There will be other ‘shiny things’ available too. We will add paint to your canvas, creating a uniquely blended effect with water and pigments. When our flowers and canvas are both dry and ready, we will put them together and add any finishing touches, as well as a coat of varnish to seal and protect

Materials Fee $35 paid at beginning of class includes:

The shared use of all paints, specifically Colourarte, Golden, Daler Rowney
The shared use of ‘oooh shiny’ stuff and bling
The shared use of additives for texture
Odds and ends…
