Let’s make a delicious mess! I love gelatin plate mono-printing and I think you will too.
In this class we will dive into my favorite question; What if… as we explore color, texture and pattern. We will create a great stash of unique papers and fabrics through a combination of gelatin plate mono-printing, wood block printing and thermofax screen printing.
Gelatin plate printing is a fun and easy method of mono-printing that results in surprises and delights. We will use both the traditional gelatin plate and the synthetic plates. Create unique textures and patterns using found objects (aka-junk), stamps, stencils and resists or masks.
Thermofax screen printing uses a fine mesh screen to create graphic images on fabric and paper. It is quick and easy and slightly addictive.
In the morning we will focus on experimenting and discovering texture and pattern. In the afternoon we will shift to layering techniques to create fantastic one-of-a-kind fabrics and papers.
