In my mixed media art, I like to say that I start with a broom and end with a needle, meaning I start big and free and end with small meaningful details. We will spend the morning painting, drawing, collaging, and printing on various substrates, such as paper, copies, mag pages, folders, and fabric scraps, to create your mixed media stash. We will create pieces that are layered with scribbles, mark-making, stencils, and stamping with lots of fun and unique tools. You will also explore color, texture, and pattern in mixed media mark-making. In the afternoon, we will use your mixed media stash to create a hard-covered collaged accordion fold book utilizing your unique mixed media papers and fabric scraps.
You will walk away with a stack of pieces that can be used later in other personal projects and your accordion fold book. I will be bringing lots of stencils and stamps to work with, but if you have your favorites, you can bring those to play with.
