Layers of technique with MIXED MEDIA

Join me for two day class full of creativity! You will learn techniques for building layers and depth with paint and paper. Create a finished mixed media collage you will be proud of. I will lead you through the process of painting a face/focal point, shading with paint and adding layers of paper. No experience needed, just a creative spirit. You are welcome to bring printed papers of your choice to make your piece unique. (All papers recommended on CARD STOCK paper for full effect of paint shading) Please see details below. Class collage paper kit $40 paid in CASH to teacher at beginning of class 

all collage papers to create the artwork shown in example photos.I will bring one kit per student. If you would like additional kits for future projects just email me.

Supplies Needed  to bring for Class:

-Assorted paint brushes: 1.5 inch, 1 inch and a small detailed brush.
-1 Wood canvas approx. 20 x 30 inches. MDF board also works great. If you are flying to the retreat and unable to travel with a large canvas you can bring two medium size wood canvases 18x24 inch.
-medium jar of Matte Medium.
-Golden acrylic paints of your choice, including black and three or more of your favorite colors. My favorites are Nickel Azo gold, Buff, Metallic gold, and many shades of blue.
-Inks are a way to bring layers as well. Bring a few for layers of color on hair and background. I love using a deep red and turquoise for hair color.
-Scissors for cutting paper.
-Apron if you wish.
-Paper towels or cloth.
-Paint pallet or paper plate
-Small bowl for Matte Medium.
-Black paint pen in medium thickness.
-If you choose to bring additional collage papers please be sure they are printed on heavy paper or CARDSTOCK about 110lb. I use card stock paper. This helps create edges that we will shade with paint. If you are bringing your own images to include in your art you can get images color copied on card stock paper at a local printer or Staples type office supply store. (all collage papers to create your piece in class will be offered in the class kit) so don’t worry about bringing extra if you can’t get the card stock prints.
