This precious little book is a beautiful union of form and function. Copper, wire, paper, and beveled glass come elegantly together in this charming little book that is sure to become a treasured keepsake, especially once it is filled with your art photos and writing. In this workshop you will fabricate the new and improved version of my original all metal binding with two 4" beveled glass squares as the covers. Fill it with some nice watercolor paper, and it is perfect for writing, art journaling, scrapbooking, whatever! Students fabricate the glass and metal book completely "from scratch" and embellish with chain, beads, charms, and pretty photo images. This unique binding, once mastered, can be adapted to many other materials. Two transparencies of cute/pretty vintage photos are included in your kit, but you can bring a more personalized image for the covers. Just print out any 2 photos you like on transparency film at 4.25" sq. just do not cut them out. Glass squares come pre-drilled for the workshop, but bring your own Dremel and a 1/8" diamond drill bit if you want to try your hand at drilling some glass in class. Techniques you'll learn include drilling the glass bevels, some cool metal fabrication, how to alter metal with fire and chemical patina, some basic bookbinding terminology, safe use of various hand tools, and more!
