Surprise yourself with a lyrical, poem-like “story” that will bring your book to life with the words you love. This workshop is a playful way to experiment with techniques that you can apply to any medium and you will be delighted to have this in your own collection of handmade books to keep or gift to that special someone in your life.

Supplies Needed  to bring for Class:

NOTE: I am  an Artist Educator for GOLDEN Acrylics and nearly exclusively use and instruct with their products. Your color mixing will be more successful if you are using professional grade paints.

• Fluid acrylics in any colors you like, but minimally in a “primary” trio (one each of a red, yellow, blue), plus black, white and at least one shiny iridescent color like gold, silver, pearl, copper or bronze.
• Heavy Body acrylics in any colors
• High Flow acrylics or acrylic ink in any colors
• Soft Gel Gloss
• Matte (or Super Matte) Medium
• Any gels, pastes or mediums that you have or enjoy using
• Brushes: Any you enjoy using. I like a 1” flat, several smaller and medium in flats and rounds, a smaller angled, “liner” and “fan.” Bring brushes that you have and like to use
• Your journal to use for any notes, exercises and practicing
• Collage paper that you already have and would like to use
• Palette or palette paper for your paint
• Your favorite mark making tools: Pencils, crayons, markers, Sharpies, pastels, Poscas, Pintars, Marabu, etc.
• Palette knife
• Scissors
• Paper towels
• Water container

Optional:

• A small canvas to use to offload paint— a “junk” canvas. Definitely not required and you can always make collage paper with your unused paints too.
• Dot tools
• Calligraphy pen and/or Fineline applicator for drawing with High Flow
