Join me in bringing the rich cultural traditions of Mexico's Day of the Dead to life through this fun creative experience. Let your imagination run as you breathe new life into a discarded doll, imbuing it with the festive, intricate aesthetic of this beloved holiday. Whether you're an experienced crafter or a beginner, you'll leave with a one-of-a-kind keepsake that captures the whimsical, macabre beauty of Día de los Muertos. This workshop is a unique, hands-on way to explore Mexican heritage and culture, so add some spice to your creativity, honor the dearly departed, and create a stunning, if kinda spooky, art doll that will be the centerpiece of your Day of the Dead celebrations for years to come.
In this course, students will transform a found thrift store doll into a stunning, darkly themed work of art as they "re-dress" their doll in a customized costume, paint its face with traditional (or not) sugar skull design, and adorn their doll with spooky accessories and a stylish marabou feather wig.
