This workshop will explore natural dyes and basic embroidery stitches to create a unique color palette with plants and minerals as well as begin to stitch with abstract inspiration. We will dye several skeins of cotton threads and one stitching cloth to inspire from. Using harvested plants and mordants we will create dye baths, practice various stitches, and start creating a final piece to take home
Materials Fee $20 paid at beginning of class includes:
3 15 yard skeins of threads for each student, sample size fabrics, 12x12 inch cotton for final project, 8x8 inch cotton for sample stitches, Cotton thread for sample stitches, natural dyes, mordants, 1-2 page handouts, and one needle per student.
Supplies Needed to bring for Class:
notebook, pen, small embroidery hoop ( 8" max), towel, baggie to take home damp things.
