Navigating the spectrum can be overwhelming. There are some who have an intuitive grasp on color while others may find themselves baffled when it comes to creating a palette for a project. Some artists might work with colors they like and yet be disappointed with the results. Though an instinctive ability in working with color is helpful, color is basically a science and as such the basic principles of how colors behave and interact in a design, is a skill that can be learned. The study of color is a fascinating journey and this program is intended to teach the relationships between colors and values and help build confidence in selecting and planning colors for your art and design projects. This digital presentation includes some hands-on exercise sheets to allow students to explore the topic further beyond the class. Understanding the predictable behavior of color and value will enable you to approach your projects with confidence and lessen the chance that you will be dissatisfied with a completed project. One method of combining colors covered in the class, is to work from a color wheel, but in addition, you will learn other ways of creating stunning palettes along with a handout with links to some valuable online resources and apps that can be utilized to create color schemes.
