Seminole piecing is a classic sewing technique originally employed the Seminole Tribe in Florida to salvage and remake strips of fabric into new cloth that was used to make their garments. In this class, you will learn basic Seminole piecing to create the centerpiece for a salmon totem. After completing the piecing and fused applique, the project can be embellished with hand or machine embroidery and beading if desired. The completed project can be used as wall art, a table mat, centerpiece for a quilt, or applied to a garment. Kits will be available to make the center panel. Embellishing your project is optional and may require additional materials, contact the instructor for more details. Skill level: Confident beginner and up.
