Let's work with personal symbolism and messaging. You’ll paint a series of small works — image fragments, single words, tiny scenes, whatever wants to live at that scale — then mount them as scrolls with simple wooden dowels and ties. Alongside the paintings, you’ll alter a small box to hold them. A scroll isn’t a wall piece; it’s a private object, something for one person at a time, unrolled by hand. We’ll talk about pacing a small composition, working at a scale that fits in your palm, and designing a box that feels like it belongs to the paintings inside it rather than just storing them.

9x12 Watercolor or mixed media paper pad, student grade is fine (I like Cason XL). We need lots of paper to play on!
Pad of canvas like Fredrix
Acrylic gesso
Acrylic paints
Marking tools like Scribble Sticks, Stabilo All pencils, etc.
Spray bottle with water
Paint brushes
Wipes/paper towels/water container to wash brushes
Gel medium
Your favorite stencils.
