Immerse yourself in the artistry of Italy with Essence of Italy, an exclusive mixed media workshop designed to capture the soul of weathered plaster, peeling paint, and centuries-old patinas. Over the course of this one-of-a-kind experience, you’ll learn to bring the timeless textures of Italy into your art, guided by an internationally recognized artist and instructor with over 30 years of professional experience.

What to Expect:

This workshop blends technique, creative exploration, and the freedom to develop your own artistic voice. Together, we’ll build a rich visual language through layered textures, mark-making, and innovative mixed media processes. You’ll work with bespoke textured papers, learn the elusive gel plate transfer technique, and explore my personal tricks for creating an authentic, cracked, ancient surface—textures that feel as if they’ve weathered centuries of sun, wind, and story. Through these processes, we’ll uncover how to infuse your work with a sense of depth, mystery, and timelessness.

Whether you choose to express your work within an artist book format or on individual mixed media paintings, you’ll gain the tools to compose, edit, unify, and refine your imagery with confidence. My teaching emphasizes flexibility and personal vision—allowing each participant to shape their experience to fit their unique creative path.

New for this retreat: Each participant will also receive a private one-on-one creative coaching session. This is the first time Art & Soul has offered this special opportunity. Drawing on 27 years as a professional artist and more than a decade of coaching experience, I’ll meet with you individually to focus on whatever matters most to your practice—whether that’s moving through creative blocks, strengthening your studio habits, refining technical skills, or preparing to share your work professionally. These sessions are separate from class time, designed to support your personal creative growth.
